8. Arizona (14)

Lottery picks: Stanley Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Derrick Williams, Jordan Hill, Jerryd Bayless, Channing Frye,  Andre Iguodala, Richard Jefferson, Jason Terry, Mike Bibby, Damon Stoudamire, Sean Elliott, Lauri Markkanen, and Brian Williams.

When the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Markkanen with their pick in Thursday’s draft, it marked the 14th Wildcat to be chosen in the NBA lottery. The 14 lottery selections are the fifth most all-time.

Elliott is arguably the most successful of the Wildcats’ lottery picks. Elliott was a two-time All-Star and an NBA champion. He also had his jersey retired by the San Antonio Spurs.

Iguodala is the only other player that comes close to Elliott. Iguodala, who was named an All-Star in 2012, was the 2015 Finals MVP.  The Wildcats’ 14 lottery selections have combined to win seven NBA titles.

Arizona has not had a No. 1 overall pick during the lottery era. The Wildcats also don’t have a total draft bust with Johnson being the closest thing as now. Johnson has struggled since being taken with the eighth overall pick in the 2015 draft by Detroit. Also, Gordon has talent but has yet to start reaching his potential. Bayless is the most experienced player to fail to reach the potential of a lottery pick. However, Bayless has had a few solid seasons.
