Non-Top 100 Recruits

Will Wade and the Tigers bring in three players who were not a part of the ESPN Top 100, but two of them are considered to be around four-star recruits.

Daryl Edwards

A 6’4, 170-pound shooting guard out of Fresno, California, Daryl Edwards played basketball last season at Northwest Florida State College. The JUCO recruit averaged 28.4 minutes per game, shot 48.9% from the floor, and added 13.6 points per game last season for the Raiders. More importantly, however, Edwards averaged 46.6% from behind the three-point line, bringing a much-needed skill to this LSU team.

Brandon Rachal

A 6’6, 220-pound small forward out of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Brandon Rachel is a highly talented player who probably was undervalued as a low four-star recruit. I was actually fairly surprised that this player chose LSU over Texas A&M, but that it yet another testament to how good of a recruiter Wade is.

Mayan Kiir

A 6’9, 215-pound power forward out of Bradenton, Florida, Mayan Kiir is rated as a borderline four-star recruit based on which site you look at. Heavily recruited by middle-of-the-country teams, the 247 Sports crystal ball had him leaning towards VCU before Will Wade came to LSU. His size will come in handy even if he fails to see heavy minutes as a freshman.
