Early November

Grand Valley State at Michigan, November 3rd

Currently playing in Division II, the Grand Valley State Lakers will be a “warm-up” game of sorts for the Wolverines. Also playing at home, Michigan should have no trouble getting their first victory under their wing early in the year. Michigan can hopefully use this game as an opportunity to not only get a victory, but to help in deciding which players belong in the rotation.

Central Michigan at Michigan, November 13th

The Chippewas have not made a NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003, and they will want to start off this season on the right foot. Yet, they will be without Marcus Keene, the leading scorer in all of college basketball last season (30.0 points per game), as he took off to pursue a professional basketball career. They also will miss second-leading scorer Braylon Rayson, who scored 21.1 points per game.

Southern Mississippi at Michigan, November 16th

After finishing last season near the bottom of the Conference-USA, the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles are unlikely to pose a major threat to Michigan in this game. Although the team finished strong relative to the rest of their season, the Golden Eagles went through a stretch last season where they lost nine consecutive games. They want to improve on their 9-22 record from last year.
