Michigan Basketball: Breaking down the Wolverines’ non-conference schedule
Maui Jim Maui Invitational
LSU vs. Michigan, November 20th
As the Maui Invitational gets underway, Michigan will take on the LSU Tigers in their first round game. The Tigers finished tied for last in the SEC last season (the year after having #1 overall draft pick Ben Simmons on the roster) at 2-16 in the conference and 10-21 overall. With a recruiting class that is ranked 16th nationally by 247Sports, this young team might pose a threat in the first round.
Notre Dame/Chaminade vs. Michigan, November 21st
Notre Dame will likely be the matchup here, even though we have seen the host team Chaminade play some teams tough in this tournament. The Fighting Irish are led by National Player of the Year candidate Bonzie Colson and he will definitely make things difficult on the frontcourt of Michigan. In addition to Colson, Notre Dame returns point guard Matt Farrell. They will enter the season in the preseason top-25 and are coming off of a season in which they finished 12-6 in the ACC and 26-10 overall.
TBD vs. Michigan, November 22nd
The Maui Invitational includes Marquette, VCU, Wichita State, and California as teams that Michigan could meet on this third day as well.
