Syracuse Basketball: Eric Devendorf and Donte Green lead Boeheim’s Army to TBT Elite Eight
Team FOE
Team FOE, an acronym for Family Over Everything, is the brainchild of Marcus and Markieff Morris. The Morris twins currently play in the NBA with Markieff suiting up for the Washington Wizards and Marcus with the Boston Celtics after being traded recently by the Detroit Pistons. Team FOE consists of former Kansas players, the twins’ alma mater, and players from Philadelphia, the Morris’ hometown.
FOE is in the regional final for the first time ever. Team Foe reached the Super 16 in 2015 after losing in the first round of the inaugural event as they had just four players.
Team FOE has had to battle really hard to reach the regional final. FOE overcame a small halftime deficit to defeat 13th seeded DC on Point 80-75 in the opening round. In round two, they once again needed a second half rally to overcome 12th-seed Sideline Cancer (82-75). Then in the Super 16, Team FOE used a 27-8 second half spurt to pull away from top-seed FCM Untouchables 85-71 as former Villanova Wildcat Maalik Wayns pumped in 17 points to lead five players in double figures. It was Wayns’ first game of the tournament.
Wayns, Mychel Thompson, and Tyshawn Taylor are team members who have NBA experience. Thompson is currently a member of the Santa Cruz Warriors (G-League) while Wayns and Taylor are playing overseas. Several other team members are currently playing professionally, including Markus Kennedy — who was with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers last season.
