Summit League Basketball: Who is the 2017-18 star on each team?
By Bryan Mauro
Denver Pioneers – Joe Rosga
15.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 3.2 APG
The junior point guard is the rock for the Denver Pioneers. Rosga can really shoot the basketball as he made about three 3-pointers per contest last year. Rosga was also one of the nation’s best free throw shooters at 86% last year. Rosga shot 96 free throws a season ago, showing that he can get fouled and hurt teams who put him at the line. That is a wonderful trait to have in a player. Denver is not a very good basketball team overall, but Rosga is one of the very best scorers in this league and could rival as one of the best shooters in the country. If Denver wants to go anywhere this year, the Pioneers will live and die with Rosga.

Fort Wayne Mastodons – Bryson Scott
16.1 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 2.3 APG
Not only does Fort Wayne have one of the best mascots in college basketball, they also sport one of the best unknown players in the NCAA in Bryson Scott. Scott is a Purdue transfer who can play. He is a crafty scorer and a sneaky good rebounder. Bryson was also a solid player in the Big Ten at Purdue when he got minutes. In Fort Wayne’s monumental upset of Indiana last year, the best player on the floor in that game was Scott. He had 18 points and 12 rebounds and was clutch for the Mastodons down the stretch. Fort Wayne did not finish the season nearly as well as they started it, but if Scott is able to do what he did last year, Fort Wayne could be a contender in this league.
