Key Reserves

Race Thompson

Thompson decided to reclassify from 2018 to this year to get a head start on his college career. In his senior year of high school, he averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds. With a lack of returning frontcourt offense, the 6’8″ forward could get plenty of minutes if he can contribute on offense.

Clifton Moore

The No. 148 recruit in the class according to 247Sports, Moore is more of a back-to-the-basket type of big. At 6’10” and 220 pounds, he’ll be the backup center for now.

Justin Smith

Smith is a versatile 6’7″ wing who can play on the perimeter as well as the four spot due to his size. He averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds per game during his senior year of high school, so rebounding is a skill he already has in his bag of tricks.

Aljami Durham

The only true guard of the freshmen class, Durham will be Newkirk’s understudy for a year until it is his time to take over the offense. Durham is more of a scoring guard while Newkirk distributes more, so Miller can have a nice change of pace with these two point guards.

Devonte Green and Curtis Jones

As freshmen last season, this duo combined for eight points and three rebounds per game in limited minutes. But with a new coach in town, these two could be in danger of falling behind on the bench if the current freshmen outplay them.

While the more experienced guys will likely start to begin the season, it’s very likely that at least one, if not more of the new players will crack the lineup. When a new coach comes in, everything tends to reset and the best players play, regardless of seniority.
