One does not simply win on the road in College Park

Even though things may not have been pretty on the court at times for Butler, this is not an altogether bad loss. Maryland is one of the premier programs in the powerful Big Ten and beating them on the road is incredibly difficult. This was the first major home game of the year for the Terrapins and the fans made it count.

Students and alumni alike contributed to a crowd-wide blackout against Butler in College Park. Throughout the night, the crowd was engaged and the Terps’ players rewarded their fans with an impressive performance. As the season continues, it will be expected that College Park will be a difficult place to play.

Maryland will likely once again be near the top of the Big Ten rankings and looks to be an NCAA Tournament team with ease. Butler would have definitely liked to add a road win over Maryland to their potential postseason resume, but things did not go according to plan for them in this one.

Watch out for Maryland to be a surprise team to possibly compete for the Big Ten title this season. They may be young, but with high-energy reserves, an elite home court, and a trio of top-notch sophomores, the Terps have what it takes to compete with the best of the conference.
