DePaul 111, Oklahoma 108

Amarah Coleman hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the DePaul Blue Demons a 111-108 overtime victory over No. 21 Oklahoma Sooners on Monday night.

“It was an accident,” Coleman said with a smile. “There was a mix-up, and I thought: `Oh shoot.’ I just tried to make a play.”

The play that head coach Doug Bruno designed didn’t materialize, so Coleman took matters into her own hands. The senior point guard dribbled toward the top of the key then cut to the right wing and hit a step-back shot over 6-foot-2 Sooner guard Maddie Manning.

Coleman scored eight of her career-high 23 points in overtime. She also knocked down two of her career-high five three-pointers in the extra period.

Four other Blue Demons reached double-figures. Ashton Millender tossed in 21 points and Mart’e Grays tallied 18. Kelly Campbell contributed 16 points along with 10 rebounds while Chante Stonewall chipped in 16 points off the bench. DePaul (1-1) tied a program record with 19 treys.

Vionise Pierre-Louis led OU (1-1) with 25 points, on 10-of-13 shooting, and 16 rebounds. Shania Pellington finished with 23 points, on  9-of-12 shooting, and Manning had 20. Gabbi Ortiz (15 points), LaNeisa Williams (10), and Ana Llanusa (10) also scored in double figures.
