The Iowa Hawkeyes have got to be one of the biggest surprises in the conference this year. Fran McCaffery’s team just can’t seem to get anything going. The Hawkeyes are really struggling to find their identity without their leading scorer from last season, Peter Jok.

Iowa has had some really bad losses this year, which is the main reason why they have dropped to the last rank in the power rankings this week. The Hawkeyes dropped four straight games before their 91-60 victory over a very poor Southern Jaguars team on Dec. 10.

In their other game this last week, the Hawkeyes dropped an 84-78 decision to rival Iowa State on Dec. 7. The Hawkeyes actually didn’t play too bad in this game, but the Cyclones are nowhere near the team they have been in the past and this was a tough road loss for the Hawkeyes.

Tyler Cook continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding at 6.8 per game so far this season. Jordan Bohannon (12.5 ppg) and Isaiah Moss (11.6 ppg) are also main contributors for Fran McCaffery this season.  The Hawkeyes rank 28th in the nation in rebounding currently, pulling down 41.27 rebounds per game.

Schedule for this week:

  • Drake (5-5) vs Iowa in Des Moines, IA on Dec. 16
