Snubs

There were no shocking picks or horrific snubs on this year’s teams, though there are some players who deserve a shout-out.

It was a bit surprising to see Angel Delgado miss the first-team. Delgado averaged 13.4 points and 11.6 rebounds for Seton Hall this season, and although the Pirates were a mild disappointment, they still finished fourth in the conference and are NCAA tournament-bound. Delgado was also a member of the conference first-team last year, and was a preseason first-team pick by the coaches heading into 2017-18.

If we were to promote Delgado, Ponds would probably be the player bumped off the first-team, though if we’re being honest, Delgado may not even be the best player on the second-team (I could be convinced that any of Rodriguez, Thomas, or Howard are better). Delgado’s spot on the second-team is probably accurate, it’s just a tad surprising considering his reputation around the country.

Marquette sophomore Sam Hauser is the player who comes to mind as the top player not mentioned on any list. The Golden Eagles are a tough team to evaluate because Howard, Rowsey, and Hauser all have nights where they are the best player in a MU uniform.

Still, the do-it-all forward made massive leaps across the board in his second season, and averaged 15.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on hyper-efficient shooting (51.8% FG, 81.1% FT, 51.7% 3PT) for a potential tourney team. Watch out for him as an upperclassmen.
