What went well: Finishing

After Haanif Cheatham departed early in the season, Wojo was forced to turn to a group of inexperienced wing players. Anim emerged and played very effectively throughout the year, despite playing limited minutes as a freshman and redshirting last season.

Anim attacks the rim relentlessly, caroming off defenders, and finishing in traffic more often than not. He started the final 30 games of the season and often guarded the opponent’s top perimeter player. He also dropped a career-high 26 points in a comeback win at Creighton in February. Anim was a question mark after redshirting, but he rose above even the most optimistic expectations this year.

What to improve on: Perimeter shooting

Anim has a good first step attacking the basket, and he can finish among the trees inside. If he can add even a semi-competent jumper next season, he will have a nice bag of tricks to dig into on offense.

Anim shot just 8-34 from distance this year, but his stroke is not that bad. He made huge strides during his redshirt season, and now has another offseason to work on his jump shot. Anim, the Minnesota Player of the Year out of high school, certainly has the talent and drive to improve.
