NCAA Basketball: Which school’s alumni would make the best NBA team?
By Logan Butts
Texas
G – D.J. Augustin
G – Avery Bradley
F – Kevin Durant
F – LaMarcus Aldridge
C – Myles Turner
Bench: P.J. Tucker, Cory Joseph, Jarrett Allen, Tristan Thompson, Isaiah Taylor
This is actually a really good team with a legit top eight (or nine, depending on if Thompson will ever be the same player that earned that huge contract.) Durant and Aldridge surrounded by a bevy of strong role players could earn them a spot in the title game.
UCLA
G – Russell Westbrook
G – Zach Lavine
G – Jrue Holiday
F – Trevor Ariza
F – Kevin Love
Bench: Lonzo Ball, Darren Collison, Kyle Anderson, Luc Mbah a Moute, Norm Powell, Shabazz Muhammad, Kevon Looney, Aaron Afflalo, T.J. Leaf, Ike Anigbogu
Heavily represented by the late 2000s Final Four teams, for my money, this is the second best team and potentially the most electric team in the field. They are a little small, but the Bruins would run and gun with the best of them
Wake Forrest
G – Chris Paul
G – Jeff Teague
F – Al-Farouq Aminu
F – James Johnson
C – John Collins
Bench: Ish Smith, Tyler Cavanaugh
Wake Forest would be stout on defense and the CP3 show on offense. They may not make it far with that pretty much nonexistent bench, but the Demon Deacons will go down fighting.
Washington
G – Isaiah Thomas
G – Markelle Fultz
G – Dejounte Murray
F – Terrence Ross
F – Marquese Chriss
Next: Top coaching performances from the 2017-18 season
Bench: Justin Holiday, C.J. Wilcox
Small, but feisty, modeled after their leader IT. Not sure how this science experiment would work, but Fultz would finally get his chance to shine after falling behind Simmons and Embiid in the 76ers pecking order.
