ACC Basketball: Top 10 players heading into the 2018 NBA Draft
2. Lonnie Walker IV, Miami
Lonnie Walker IV made waves with the Miami Hurricanes this past season. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard made quite the impression in the ACC this past season with not only his scoring ability but also his athleticism.
Walker averaged 11.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists through 32 appearances in the regular season but a deeper look at his numbers in the ACC warrants some attention. In ACC play, Walker averaged 13.6 points, 2.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals through 18 games, 15 starts. He also shot 36.1 percent from 3-point range in ACC play.
Walker’s play earned him an All-ACC Freshman team nod which was warranted considering. On Feb. 24, Miami trailed by 14 points with six minutes left in the game. Along with freshman Chris Lykes, Walker led a furious comeback which culminated in him draining the game-winning 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds left in the game.
He’s one shooting guard with tons of ability and upside. Don’t be surprised if he ends up being a lottery pick after a big lead up.
