ACC Basketball: Top 10 players heading into the 2018 NBA Draft
3. Wendell Carter Jr., Duke
Wendell Carter Jr. made up one half of the Duke Blue Devils frontcourt that terrorized opponents in 2017-18. Carter put up 16 double-doubles as a freshman, finishing as one of the more decorated big men in Duke history.
Despite his short time, Carter finished second all-time among freshman in rebounds (335), blocked shots (76) and double-doubles. He averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 2.0 assists per game in 37 appearances last season, all starts.
Carter is a 6-foot-10 big man of the future as he has the ability to play inside and out. He shot 56.1 percent from the floor and 41.3 percent from 3-point range as a freshman. Whether in the post or on the perimeter, Carter has the ability to score in bunches.
Defensively, Carter is a force as well. He ranked fifth in the ACC in defensive plus/minus score (7.5) this past season and first in overall plus/minus (13.5) after finishing fifth overall in total blocks. He’ll be a top pick come June with the destination pending the results of the upcoming draft lottery show.
