NBA Draft 2018: Surprise snubs of the Draft Combine
2. Theo Pinson, North Carolina
Theo Pinson was without a doubt the North Carolina Tar Heels biggest breakout star in 2017-18 and ultimately it earned him nothing in return. Pinson averaged 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game, starting in all 37 contests in 2017-18.
Despite what Pinson worked towards, he was left out of this year’s field of combine participants. Call it too many guards, or something else entirely, but it makes you wonder what went wrong. Pinson isn’t the greatest 3-point shooter but he makes up for it with his ability to make plays and score at the rim.
He peaked at the right time in his senior year, playing his best game of the season in the ACC Tournament as well. He finished with a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting in a big 82-65 victory over the Miami Hurricanes back on March 8. He’s got room for improvement, but he did enough to at least get an invite to Chicago.
