5. Landers Nolley, Virginia Tech

The Virginia Tech Hokies have a lot of experience returning next season but they also have to replace shooting guard Justin Bibbs. That’s where 6-foot-7 combo forward Landers Nolley comes in.

He was ranked the 90th overall player in ESPN‘s  2018 class. While he originally committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Oct. 7, he changed his mind in the end and chose the Hokies. He’s listed as a small forward but he also has the ability to play the shooting guard position.

Nolley comes in after a strong senior campaign in his final year of high school. He averaged 29.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.9 steals per game as a high school senior. He shot 50 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-point range. His numbers allowed him to take home Georgia 6A Player of the Year after leading his team to a state title. He put up 34 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals in the championship game.

He’s sure to go through some growing pains as a freshman, but there’s experience all around him with Justin Robinson, Kerry Blackshear Jr. and Chris Clarke. They’re a team in need of some 3-point shooting for 2018-19 and Nolley can certainly fill the void.
