SF Wendell Moore, Cox Mill

Wendell Moore looks to be another player that Duke and North Carolina will be in recruiting battle over. The No. 19 recruit in the class, Moore is a tantalizing talent on the wing that can score in a variety of ways. He was named the 2017-18 North Carolina Coaches Player of the Year this past season while putting up averages of 25 points and 8 rebounds per game. He stands at 6-foot-5 and projects as a strong wing in college.

According to 247Sports, Moore had this to say about Coach K’s potential role for him at Duke: “I mean, the class they have coming in is about six or seven guys. They want me to kind of be the leader of those six or seven guys. Kind of like the focal point. Get everybody involved and things like that.” The Blue Devils are in Moore’s final five and this kind of comment certainly makes it seem like he is favoring them.

As of June 11, Duke seems to be the frontrunner in this recruitment. The Blue Devils hold a 16-2 advantage over North Carolina in 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions. The other programs still in the running to land Moore include NC State, South Carolina, and Wake Forest. Four of these final five teams involved with Moore are from the ACC so it seems like Duke will want to be familiar with Moore no matter where he commits.

Assistant coach Chris Carrawell has been vital in the recruitment of Moore to potentially join the Blue Devils.
