Omari Spellman, Villanova

Omari Spellman played a big role as a redshirt freshman for the Villanova Wildcats in 2017-18. He took home the Big East’s Freshman of the Year award for his performance and it was enough to convince him to enter the NBA Draft.

He waited until the final deadline but ultimately he kept his name in the draft process and it paid off when he was taken 30th overall by the Atlanta Hawks.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound prospect has the ability to play the forward position but lacks the versatility to play on the interior. He averaged 10.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per contest during his freshman campaign while shooting 43.3 percent from 3-point range.

He’ll need to prove he can knock down the outside shot as a stretch-four in the league to become a threat. The Hawks could end up stashing him in the G-League for a year or two before it’s all said and done.
