Michael Porter Jr.

Another first-round snub that seemed to surprise many draft experts was the selection of Michael Porter Jr. by the Denver Nuggets at 14th overall. Porter was another projected Top 10 pick, at least talent-wise, in this year’s draft class.

Concerns linger about when Porter can exactly touch the basketball court so teams didn’t seem to want to take the risk. Recent reports state Porter isn’t expected to play in NBA Summer League or in the upcoming 2018-19 season for that matter due to his recent back injury.

Other forwards like Wendell Carter Jr., Kevin Knox and guard Jerome Robinson were selected before Porter as a result. Just goes to show prospects that their body of work and their health matter in the bigger picture.

Porter averaged just 10.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in three appearances during the 2017-18 season for the Missouri Tigers. He’ll have a lot to prove to his team and others in his quest to get back on the basketball court.
