24. Paris Austin PG Jr, California

16-17 Stats: 12.3ppg 2.8apg 21%3pt at Boise State

Austin’s decision was one of the most surprising transfers from last offseason as he chose to leave Boise State. Boise State was a potential NCAA Tournament team with him at the lead guard position, but his new destination, Cal, is one of the worst power 6 teams. Austin will start and Cal will be better than they were last season, but they are still 11th place in the Pac-12 at best.

23. KJ Lawson Wing Jr, Kansas

16-17 Stats: 12.3ppg 8.1rpg 33%3pt at Memphis

Lawson is a combo-forward who will provide scoring and experience to Kansas’ bench. He could have played a much bigger role on other teams, but chose to join a deep and talented Jayhawks roster. Lawson can play inside and out and provides lineup flexibility with the ability to play smaller lineups. He will probably be a 7th or 8th man which will limit his national impact.

22. Detrick Mostella Wing Jr, Jacksonville State

16-17 Stats: 10.5ppg 3.9rpg 37%3pt at Tennessee

How often does an OVC team land a SEC transfer who averaged double figures? Mostella is an excellent shooter and could be a breakout scorer at the mid-major level. Jacksonville State will be a solid team and will compete with Murray State and Belmont at the top of the league, but they are not one of the top tier (at-large caliber) mid majors like Buffalo or Loyola.

21. Isaiah Mike PF So, SMU

16-17 Stats: 11.3ppg 5.8rpg 33%3pt at Duquesne

Mike had a promising freshman season at Duquesne and will play significant minutes during his first season at SMU. He can play both the four and the five, can space the floor, and is an excellent athlete. Mike may play next to Ethan Chargois in a bigger lineup or Jarrey Foster in a smaller lineup which gives SMU valuable lineup flexibility. The Mustangs look like a bubble team and Mike will be a key cog.

20. LaQuincy Rideau PG Jr, South Florida

16-17 Stats: 14.2ppg 5.7rpg 5.2apg 3spg 39%3pt at Gardner Webb

Rideau is the best player on a horrible South Florida squad. At Gardner Webb, Rideau stuffed the stat sheet and was heavily relied upon to create offense. He will play a similar role at USF and could even increase his production. The Bulls were ranked 279th in KenPom last season and could be just as terrible in 18-19.

19. Rob Edwards Wing Jr, Arizona State

16-17 Stats: 16.5ppg 4.5rpg 35%3pt at Cleveland State

Edwards will compete for a starting position and should see minutes at both the two and three. The Sun Devils have two 5-star freshmen (Lugentz Dort and Taeshon Cherry) and a former top 100 recruit (Kimani Lawrence) on the wing which will create an intense battle for playing time. Edwards has had some huge scoring performances at Cleveland State, most notably 28 points versus Kentucky, and will help fill the void left by Shannon Evans, Tra Holder, and Kodi Justice. I would guess Edwards is the sixth man on an underrated ASU team.
