Jaren Jackson Jr., Michigan State

The Memphis Grizzlies wasted no time getting some frontcourt help alongside Marc Gasol with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Jackson is the first player since Jason Richardson (2001) taken as a Top 5 pick in the draft.

Jackson has an NBA-pedigree in his background as well. His father, Jaren Sr., played in the league from 1990-2002, most notably with the San Antonio Spurs for four seasons. Given his DNA, it’s no wonder the 6-foot-11 big man was a lottery pick in the draft.

He averaged 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game as a freshman this past season for the Spartans. He’s a player with tons of upside and potential as a force on both ends. His rim protection will be a coveted skill on a team that is lacking in that department.

Jackson will be looked upon to shoulder some of the load as a rookie by his teammates, so he should be prepared.
