SG Trey Doomes – Fort Lauderdale, FL

Another incoming wing player, Trey Doomes is one of the most athletic shooting guards in the 2018 recruiting class. A high-flyer by every definition of the term, Doomes will make any defender pay if they are standing underneath the basket. Mostly known as a dunking phenom, it should come as no surprise to hear that Doomes is at his best when driving to the hoop or operating as a slasher. Even though he is slightly undersized for an off-guard at 6-foot-3, he makes up for this with his leaping ability and defensive prowess.

With his excellent athleticism and long arms, Doomes can be a frightening defender. He has the right physical tools to match up with just about any guard in the country and that will be extremely important for his college career. Considering the departures of Daxter Miles Jr. and Teddy Allen (Wichita State), there is room for playing time at the shooting guard position. While JUCO transfer Jermaine Haley will likely scoop up some of the minutes available, plenty should be left over for Doomes to see a significant role as a freshman. In order for the Mountaineers to live up to the high expectations set for them, Doomes will need to be a capable player right away.

While suiting up for the University School in Fort Lauderdale, Doomes played alongside Vernon Carey, one of the top 2019 recruits, during this past high school season. While there, Doomes averaged 18.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
