4. Khalil Ahmad, Cal State Fullerton

Guard Khalil Ahmad makes up half of the Cal State Fullerton Titans backcourt that stunned their opponents in the Big West Conference tournament. Ahmad picked up where he left off after missing the first 11 games in 2016-17. The former 2016 Freshman of the Year averaged 15.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game through 32 appearances.

Ahmad ranked second on the team in scoring behind guard Kyle Allman Jr. (19.5 ppg) and fourth in rebounds per game. He was quite the volume shooter for Cal State Fullerton, averaging a career-high 12.7 shots per game in 2017-18. The 6-foot-4 guard made a team-high 57 3-pointers last season.

He scored 20 points or more on 10 occasions and 30 points or more on three occasions during the regular season. His return gives the Titan one of the best backcourts in the league. With the proverbial target on his back, let’s see how 2018-19 finishes up.
