Seton Hall Pirates

Last year: 22-12 (10-8), NCAA tournament second round
Key Departures: G Khadeen Carrington, F Desi Rodriguez, C Angel Delgado, F Ismael Sanogo

Best Case

Myles Powell emerges as one of the smoothest players in the country, nailing threes and finishing at the rim. Quincy McKnight provides instant offense. Taurean Thompson establishes a slick pick-and-roll relationship with Powell and turns into a shot-blocking menace on the other end of the floor.

Without Delgado setting up on the low block, Seton Hall establishes a free-flowing offense built on versatility and playmaking. Myles Cale continues to progress in his second year and the Pirates make their fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance as one of the most dangerous teams in the Big East.

Worst Case

Powell, Thompson, and McKnight struggle to share the ball, forcing Seton Hall into too many isolation possessions. No one assumes the leadership void left behind by the four seniors, and locker room issues once again take over a Kevin Willard-led roster. The incoming freshmen – three three-star players – fail to find their roles and end up buried on the bench. The Pirates slip towards the bottom of the Big East standings, miss postseason play altogether, and questions about Willard’s ability to lead the program resurface.

Expected Big East range: 3-7
