North Carolina Basketball: 3 ways the Tar Heels will replace Joel Berry II for 2018-19
Coaching
Coach Roy Williams is one of the legendary coaches of college basketball. He was brought in to replace legendary coach Dean Smith.
The Tar Heels are naming the court at the Dean E. Smith center after him.
In 15 years at North Carolina, Williams has been the Regular Season Champion eight times, Conference Tournament Champion three times, been to five Final Fours and an NCAA Champion three times.
There is a long list of great players at North Carolina that he coached. Here are some: Raymond Felton, Marvin Williams, Danny Green, Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson, Tyler Zeller, Harrison Barnes, John Henson, Kendall Marshall, Reggie Bullock, Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson, Justin Jackson and Joel Berry II.
Having some players from the 2016-17 championship team will help the younger players that are going to be called upon to carry the torch.
Carolina is just like Villanova in terms of liking their best players be veterans. Those two teams have won the last three NCAA tournaments too.
Williams has coached a lot of great players and there are still great players on the roster for North Carolina. He should be able to get those players to continue on the path of success that so many great players before them have laid out for them.
Williams has done a good job of recruiting the last 15 seasons and fans and watchers should expect no different from him when you watch the highlight tapes of the three recruits.
Williams has a 77 percent win percentage (424-126) for his career so he will be able to account for the loss of Berry going into this year and keep his winning ways going.
