6. Myles Powell, Seton Hall

2017-18: 15.5 ppg, 2.8 apg, 2.6 rpg, 43.3/37.9/78.9 percent shooting

While Powell isn’t the favorite to win the Big East Player of the Year award, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him compete for the honor by season’s end.

As I wrote earlier in the offseason, “Powell is a silky combo guard who routinely pops from three or takes the ball to the hoop. In fact, Powell’s shot chart is a sabermetrician’s dream; nearly 91% of his 395 field goal attempts last year came from beyond the arc or at the rim.”

A pessimist may worry about Seton Hall after losing three senior stars, but I am encouraged by the fact that their fourth option last season still averaged nearly 16 points per night with a respectable usage rate (21.8 percent). Bolstered by a pair of intriguing transfers, imagine what Powell will do now that he’ll have the ball in his hands for large portions of the game.

His efficiency may drop a tad, but he should turn into a legitimate offensive star if he can shave the rough edges off his playmaking skills.
