North Carolina Tar Heels

The Tar Heels are riding high off of landing five-star forward/center Armando Bacot – especially since they beat rival Duke for his services. That doesn’t mean that they’re done grabbing elite talent for the 2019 class by a longshot.

The relationship between Coach Williams and Robinson-Earl Sr. is very important, as well as his reputation for developing bigs. From a paternal standpoint, it may make the most sense to send his son to Chapel Hill.

However, just like Kansas, the 2019-20 frontcourt is stacked for North Carolina as well. Bacot joins what would be rising juniors Brandon Huffman, Sterling Manley and Garrison Brooks on that roster, with 2018 recruit Rechon Black as the small forward. If Bacot didn’t commit, Robinson-Earl might’ve joined North Carolina himself. But with everything equal, Kansas might barely have the edge for now.

Villanova Wildcats

The national champs are going to be seeing a lot more five-star recruits coming their way, starting with the 2019 class. The question will be whether or not they can land one. It might be a stretch to get Robinson-Earl who has direct connections with the top programs. Had everything been equal, Villanova may have been the favorite.

Don’t cry too much for Jay Wright and the Wildcats, as they already have players coming in for the frontcourt. Top-50 Cole Swider is part of the 2018 class, while four-star forward Eric Dixon has committed for the 2019 class. With rising sophomore Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree set to have a breakout campaign of his own, Villanova will be just fine – even without Robinson-Earl.
