8. David McCormack, Kansas

The Jayhawks frontcourt returns Udoka Azubuike in 2018-19 but he won’t be the only big man to watch. Big man David McCormack is another player to keep an eye on as an impact freshman. He’s a four-star rated prospect but plays a lot bigger than that on the court. McCormack posted a strong senior season in 2017-18 at the prestigious Oak Hill Academy (VA).

The 6-foot-10 center anchored a 34-1 squad last season, putting up 13.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. Before he arrived at Oak Hill, McCormack weighed roughly 300 pounds. Now, he’s currently a solid 260 pounds. His hard work has paid off since joining one of the top prep programs in the nation.

He picked Kansas over Duke, North Carolina State, UCLA, Oklahoma State and Xavier. McCormack will provide a solid boost in a frontcourt of Azubuike, Silvio de Sousa and transfer Dedric Lawson who sat out last season. They shouldn’t have a hard time protecting the paint next season with so much talent in the stable.
