All-Freshman Team

Jahvon Quinerly, Villanova: The top-rated recruit joining the conference this year, it should be no surprise to see Quinerly on this list. He is expected to play a big role on arguably the best team in the conference. Head coach Jay Wright has had remarkable success with guards in the past and Quinerly should be the next in that long line of talent.

James Akinjo, Georgetown: Under head coach Patrick Ewing, the Hoyas seem to be a program once again on the rise. They already have a dominant big in Jessie Govan and Akinjo should be the starting point guard throughout this season. He will be one of the most important freshmen in the conference.

A.J. Reeves, Providence: Without Kyron Cartwright, there are many questions regarding Providence’s backcourt. Yet, head coach Ed Cooley has two excellent freshmen coming in. In my opinion, A.J. Reeves is the one who could see the most minutes and therefore could emerge as one of the conference’s top freshmen.

Cole Swider, Villanova: An elite shooter with plenty of size to play in the frontcourt, Swider should be an important member of Villanova’s roster. He has enough athleticism to potentially play multiple positions and his shooting makes him an instant offensive threat.

Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton: Although not the most highly-rated recruit entering the Big East, Marcus Zegarowski could play a major role in what seems to be a rebuilding year for Creighton. They are going to need multiple youngsters to step up this season and he could be one of them.

Joey Hauser, Marquette: A fringe top-50 recruit in the 2018 class, Joey Hauser should provide some really good minutes in the Marquette frontcourt. And, considering the Golden Eagles are anticipating a strong season overall, his contributions will be vital.
