Key reserves

The reserve unit for the Yellow Jackets will need the contributions of some newcomers to be successful in 2018-19. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets aren’t short on options off the bench this year, they just need to stay healthy.

6-foot-3 guard Shembari Phillips will be eligible to play for the next two seasons after sitting out last year after transferring from Tennessee. Phillips averaged 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 20.9 minutes of action in his final season with the Volunteers. Forward Evan Cole returns after making 24 appearances with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2017-18. Cole put up 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Phillips and Cole won’t be the only reserves expected to contribute, either. 6-foot-4 freshman guard Michael Devoe should also play a big part in the rotation. Devoe averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game at Montverde Academy as a high school senior.

6-foot-6 forward Khalid Moore is another freshman to keep an eye on. He’s a former AAU teammate of starting point guard Jose Alvarado (NY Rens). He’s a versatile wing player that could play big minutes for the Yellow Jackets as well.
