Miami Basketball: 2018-19 season preview for the Hurricanes
By Adam Childs
Season Outlook
Put Miami in another conference and they could be looked upon as a possible top-five team, but in the ACC, who looks better than ever, they may easily be in the bottom half of the conference. An easy non-conference part of the schedule will inflate their record and we may not find out how good this Hurricanes team is until the conference season starts.
Larranaga has done a lot at Miami, but this season could be very tough. They do have a lot of good athletes but in what looks like a very thin bench and with the depth of other teams in the league they could be run out of the gym at times.
The Hurricanes will probably be in some games they have no business being in and might pull off an upset or two in the ACC, but overall they do not have the talent or depth to be in the top half of the conference. The traditional powers of Duke and North Carolina are really good again and NC State, Clemson and Virginia Tech are all getting better.
Look for Miami to struggle in the ACC and finish in the bottom half this year. If they finish in the top five it might be Larranaga’s best coaching yet.
