Florida State Seminoles

Because of all the high-profile head coaches in the ACC, Leonard Hamilton has flown under the radar, in terms of both his coaching acumen as well as his recruiting ability. He’s had a few five-star players join Florida State, and is apparently one of the frontrunners to land Edwards, a potential earthquake set of news for the conference.

There will be a huge need for the top recruit as well, with leading scorer Terance Mann along with starting guard PJ Savoy each graduating after this season. CJ Walker will be back for his junior year along with Trent Forrest, but there’s a massive need for someone like Edwards.

In both this season and last, the Seminoles’ top scorer has yet to average over 13 ppg. It’s been the balance and depth that overwhelms opponents but evident by the Elite Eight loss to Michigan in the Big Dance last season, there’s a ceiling. Edwards has similar traits to Dwayne Bacon, a former Florida State player who averaged over 17 ppg two years ago. Having a go-to guy like that is just as important as great depth and balance.

With top-60 frontcourt commits Patrick Williams and Balsa Koprivica joining Florida State next season, along with potentially both Forrest and Mfiondu Kabengele, Edwards’ arrival would make this a preseason top-10 team and a legit Final Four contender.
