13: George Washington (1-7)

Just like La Salle, GW has played an extremely aggressive schedule so far (including back to back games at Virginia and against Michigan). Also like La Salle, however, they have a few losses that they could have, and should have avoided. They lost their first two games at home to Stony Brook and Siena, and they were in both of them late. They looked like they might have been turning a corner with their absolute stomping of Manhattan (70-43), but they immediately followed that performance with 16 and 21 point losses.

Probably the biggest issue with the Colonials is their chemistry and ball movement. Through eight games, no one on the roster is averaging more than 3 assists per game, and only one player is averaging more than 2 (Armel Potter – 2.8). This team does have some talent in players like Terry Nolan Jr. and Illinois-transfer DJ Williams, but they just can’t seem to put anyone of it together.

The bottom line with this team is that getting out of the bottom-4 isn’t a total lost cause, but it’s becoming more and more unlikely as the season develops and they keep losing. They still have Howard and Towson coming up on the non-conference schedule, so they’ll have a chance to turn things around. They’ll need to make a lot of changes, however, if they want to avoid getting run out of the gym in A10 play.
