3.  Find their third scoring option

James Akinjo and Jessie Govan have been models of consistency for the Georgetown offense. Outside of them though, they’ve had a bit of an issue finding a third option. Not to say players aren’t producing, but Akinjo and Govan are the only two players on the roster averaging double figures in scoring this season.

There’s freshman forward Josh LeBlanc, who’s averaging 9.3 points per contest. Senior forward Trey Mourning is putting up 9.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Mac McClung is producing 8.1 points per game.

As they approach the eighth game of the season, they’re beginning to get more out of the trio of LeBlanc, Mourning and McClung. Mourning and McClung have both thrived in the starting lineup. LeBlanc is essentially their sixth man.

Mourning put up a career-high 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds against the Campbell Camels on Nov. 24. McClung is looking to put up double figures for the third straight game. LeBlanc could see a lot of minutes given Syracuse’s lack of depth in the frontcourt.

With those odds, it will be interesting to see who will emerge as their third scoring option to lighten the load. If all three can play solid, an upset could be brewing in the Carrier Dome.
