No. 4 Loser – Midnight (EST) starts

Schedules are made well in advance and you can never predict how good two teams will be when they play each other. We even get that games on the west coast are going to start later. But a midnight eastern start robbed a lot of the country seeing a great game on Friday night. At the least, the game was on Friday so the people who stayed up to watch it probably did not have to get up for work the next morning.

Arizona State and Nevada put on a show as Nevada battled back in the second half and got a big win that may lead to them running the table in the regular season. The Sun Devils, on the other hand, proved in a loss that they could compete. But again most of America was sleeping and missed it. Switching game times is not easy, but they should have looked ahead a little bit and not started the game so late so more people could enjoy it.

No. 4 Winner – Marquette Golden Eagles

In Marquette’s third game they were blown out by Indiana and some people wrote them off as overrated. Then they lost to Kansas put up a pretty good fight, but still, questions lingered. They have not answered all of them yet, but if their recent play has anything to say they may be a favorite heading into the Big East conference play.

After finishing the previous week with a win over Kansas State, they followed it up with a win over UTEP, which isn’t that noteworthy. But then they went and beat in-state foe Wisconsin who was ranked 12th in the country. They showed their toughness it taking them out in OT and got their biggest win of the year. They now own wins over Louisville, Kansas State, and Wisconsin. All the talk about their demise earlier this year might have been a bit premature.
