14. Georgia Bulldogs

Last Week: 13th (↓ 1)

Georgia is a hard team to rank. This might end up being a little unfair to the Bulldogs, but they still have to carry the burden of losing to teams like Georgia State and Temple earlier in the season. They are currently 1-2 in conference play, but that is about as good as it could possibly get. Having to play the powerhouses of Auburn and Tennessee in two of your first three games is tough. It won’t get better when they have to play Kentucky in their next game. However, credit should be given to the Bulldogs for upsetting Vanderbilt in between the games against the Tigers and Volunteers.

Against Tennessee, Georgia showed absolutely no life. They were a couple shots away from allowing 100 points and letting the Volunteers double their score. That is simply inexcusable against anyone. Even with the game being on the road, you have to show fight.

Thankfully for the Bulldogs, they have a game soon at home against Florida. This will be a challenge, but it is certainly winnable for the team. They will also host a struggling Texas in the Big 12-SEC Challenge later in the month. Home games like that will help determine where this season ends up for Georgia, for they have already proven that they have no chance to upset quality opponents on the road.

There isn’t another game on their schedule where they are favored until they host South Carolina in February, but the Gamecocks have emerged as a surprising team early in conference play. We’ll have to see if that can be sustained once we make it to next month.
