5. Markis McDuffie – Wichita State

The Shockers under head coach Gregg Marshall have been one of the best programs in the nation the last handful of years. This year is different in that regard as the Shockers are going through a mini rebuild. Considering the amount of talent, the program has lost in the last few years it is not surprising that a rebuild is occurring.

Senior forward Markis McDuffie has been a key piece for coach Marshall for a long time. This year is no different. McDuffie has taken on a different role this year aside from the team leader, he is having to pick up the slack and do most of the scoring. The forward is excelling in his role for coach Marshall, and the downfall is the team does not have much around him this year. McDuffie has been putting up great numbers on the offensive end of the ball.

The senior is a threat from anywhere on the floor. He can shoot the ball from deep, he can score inside, and is deadly at the line. Over his career he has helped Wichita State win a lot of games and over his career Wichita State has accomplished many things. McDuffie could have an NBA future, and he may get a look. The senior will need a late run to take home this award, and it does not appear he will be playing much postseason basketball. He has had an illustrious career as a Shocker and the fans in Wichita will always remember.
