14. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (9-14) (2-9 ACC)

Last rank: 15th (↓1)

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons got their second victory in ACC play on Feb. 5 over the Pittsburgh Panthers, 78-76 in overtime, but things have still come tough for them.

Chaundee Brown’s 3-pointer with 35 seconds left in overtime gave Wake Forest the lead, 77-74, for good and lifted the spirits of a team that’s rebuilding.

Freshman forward Jaylen Howard put up 19 points, a season-high 17 rebounds, four assists and three blocks on 7-of-12 shooting from the field in the victory. The loss snapped a five-game losing skid for the Demon Deacons but on Wednesday night, they fell 88-66 against Florida State.

Wake Forest shot 11-of-25 from behind the arc but 11-of-32 (34.3 percent) from the inside the 3-point line. Florida State shot 56.5 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from 3-point land. It was another game where the Demon Deacons still were searching for their identity as they were outrebounded 43-27 in the loss.

Coming up for the Demon Deacons: North Carolina on Saturday then Notre Dame on the road Tuesday night.
