15. Pittsburgh Panthers (12-16) (2-13 ACC)

Last rank: 15th (↔)

The Pittsburgh Panthers remain at the bottom of the ACC basketball power rankings for another week. They have lost 11 games in a row and counting now since their 2-2 start. They’ve lost five of their last six contests in conference action by single digits. It’s been an interesting time in ACC play for them as they still have yet to win a game on the road.

The Panthers are still largely led by freshman backcourt of Xavier Johnson and Trey McGowens. Johnson is averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest. McGowens is putting up 12.0 point, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 assists per contest.

Outside of Jared Wilson-Frame, the Panthers haven’t gotten much production from anybody else, particularly the frontcourt. It’s been a learning experience this season, 2019-20 should be a turning point for this group.

Pittsburgh will have two opportunities coming up to secure their first road victory, though it won’t be easy. They’ll face the Virginia Cavaliers on the road on Saturday then the Miami Hurricanes on the road on Tuesday night.
