Creighton Bluejays

Season record: 15-13 (6-9) – NET Ranking: 57

Quality wins – Clemson

Bad losses – None

There are three teams ranked in the top 90 of the NET that has 10+ losses to Quad-1 opponents (Nebraska, Penn State and Creighton). Out of the trio, the Bluejays have the best odds to go dancing.

There have been a couple of times though where this team has been left for dead, going through a pair of four-game losing streaks in Big East this season. But a pair of those were in overtime, with a bunch of losses overall for Creighton coming within single-digits.

While the Bluejays are just 2-10 against Quad-1 opponents this season, there are still a couple of positives they have going for them. First, they’re 6-0 versus Quad-3 and 4 teams and do benefit from playing in a Big East Conference that truly doesn’t have a bad team.

Coach McDermott’s team also has one of the toughest overall schedules in the country, including facing off against some very good mid-majors. Teams like Georgia State, Montana and East Tennessee State do count well in the overall metrics and may be the reason why they’re even in the bubble discussion.

We have Creighton in the “first four out” but their hopes could dash even before the Big East Tournament. Three games left against Marquette, Providence and DePaul, with the ladder two being “must-wins”. With 15 total losses being the key number and the Bluejays already having 13, they have to find a way to make the semis of the conference tournament to make a case.
