Clemson Tigers

Season record: `17-11 (7-8) – NET Ranking 41

Quality wins – Virginia Tech

Bad losses – None

It’s very rare that a power conference team having as little on their overall resume entering March that Clemson has – with nothing good or bad on it. Throughout the season, this team has beaten the teams they’re supposed to while losing to just about every team better than them on paper. Thank goodness the bubble is so weak this year, otherwise there wouldn’t be any hope for the Tigers.

Right now, Clemson is 1-8 against Quad-1 teams. And the crazy thing is that number could’ve been a lot higher had the schedule been different. The Tigers had the easiest ACC schedule compared to other teams in the league this season, playing Duke, UNC, Virginia, NC State and Louisville just once each. That has also become a double-edged sword, with limited opportunities to get quality wins.

The non-conference performance also didn’t do the Tigers any favors, with mid-majors Lipscomb and Sam Houston State being the “best” wins on the resume.

Clemson is our projected “last team in”, so their fortunes can go a number of ways. UNC and Syracuse remain on the regular season schedule before the ACC Tournament. A win over either of those teams would be good, although multiple wins in the conference tournament will still be needed for the Tigers to be on the right side of the bubble.
