East Region (Washington DC)

1. Virginia Cavaliers (1)

Tony Bennett’s club is once more the most impressive in the country during a regular season. If the Cavs triumph in the ACC tournament and don’t lose to Louisville (funny), they will secure the number one overall seed in this tournament. And Washington DC is right next door, so the East Region is all theirs–just as long as a certain Retrievers squad doesn’t make the trip.

2. Michigan State (8)

MSU is a serious Jekyll and Hyde situation. After toppling Michigan in Ann Arbor without Nick Ward, Sparty turned around and lost to hilariously inconsistent Indiana…for the second time this season! Evan with the defeats against Indiana and the slip-up at horrible Illinois, State’s resume of victories remains one of the best 2 or 3 in the country.

3. LSU (9)

My top 3-seed (no. 9 overall) may surprise folks, but LSU is for real. Will Wade’s club has zipped through conference play and is a pair of victories away from SEC-Champion-status. They swept their matchups with Kentucky and Tennessee, and boast an impressive 24-5 record. The Tigers are talented, uber-athletic, and have incredible depth. Barring a collapse, LSU is assured a top-4 seed.

4. Wisconsin (16)

This was the final spot, and after mulling over the Badgers and Florida State, I settled for Buzzcut Brad, Ethan Happ, and the cheese-eaters. Wisconsin’s win over Michigan will hold heavy with the committee, and they should finish the year with a 22-9 record, which is capable of earning a 4-seed.
