NCAA Tournament 2019: UC Irvine, 12 Seeds among top day two performers

Jordan Burns – Colgate
Tennessee sweated out a too close for comfort win over Colgate 77-70. The Raiders might be going home, but sophomore Jordan Burns clinched his spot in the One Shining Moment montage.
In nearly leading his team to the biggest upset of the round, even with Patriot League Player of the Year Rapolas Ivanauskas sitting on the sideline, Burns was hitting everything he threw up.
He finished the game with 32 points on 12-20 shooting including 8-13 from the field. He even prompted Vols head coach Rick Barnes to say they would love to have him on the roster for their next game.
Buffalo
For the second year in a row, the Buffalo Bulls dominated their first round opponent thoroughly from tip to finish. But instead of coming in as the underdog, this year No. 6 Buffalo dominated No. 11 Arizona State 91-74.
This has to be one of the most complete mid-major squads that we’ve ever seen. They defend well one-on-one and as a team, they move the ball unselfishly, they’re deep and experienced, they have a number of guys they can go to on offense, and they have a legit star in CJ Massinburg.
Four different Bulls scored in double-figures on Friday: Jeremy Harris (21), Nick Perkins (21), Massinburg (18), and Jayvon Graves (13). Buffalo is legit seven deep. These guys are prepared for a deep run.
