After shattering almost all expectations this past season, Seton Hall looks to be in great shape heading into the 2019-20 campaign. In my opinion, this is due to three major reasons. For starters, Myles Powell will be one of the best returning players in the entire country. A dynamite scorer with the ability to catch fire at any moment, Powell should be in the running for Big East Player of the Year during this upcoming campaign as it is reasonable to assume that he takes the next step with his game. During this past season, the talented guard posted 23.1 points per game on shooting splits of .446/.363/.840. It’s hard to argue with those numbers.

In addition, it is important to mention that the majority of his supporting cast is also returning for this coming season. Of the nine players that averaged 10+ minutes per game for the Pirates a year ago (including Powell), eight of them are expected to return. This amount of roster continuity from a team that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago bodes extremely well for the squad, especially when the top three scorers are all part of the returning players.

Furthermore, this roster continuity is coupled with the return of their head coach. Several rumors have swirled so far this offseason linking Kevin Willard to other coaching jobs across the country but he is still with Seton Hall. And now that the majority of the top jobs have filled, it is reasonable to assume that Willard will once again roam the Pirates’ sidelines next season and that is a great sign for the team. They should be able to take the next step as a unit next season and possibly spend plenty of time in the top-25.
