All-Freshman Team

Zion Williamson – Duke

Zion who was the player of the year was a clear-cut choice for this list. He was leaps and bounds above everyone in the country let alone freshman. He grabbed just about 9 boards a game and scored over 22 points a game. When he was hurt Duke struggled mightily to beat most tough opponents.

RJ Barrett – Duke

Barrett like Williamson went to Duke, but it took him a little longer to get comfortable. Barrett scored the same points per game as Zion at 22.6 and he grabbed 7.6 boards. He was also the guy that they would go to when the needed a clutch 3.

Lamine Diane – Cal Northridge

The first player you most likely do not know of on this list. Diane has the best freshman numbers that I have seen in a long while. Diane was a standout on a very poor Matador team, he scored 24.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game. His team was a poor 13-21, but he stood out and could play himself into a draft pick next season.

Antoine Davis – Detroit Mercy

Here is another example of a great player, but on a bad team. Davis lit it up scoring 26.1 points per game and grabbing 3 rebounds and assists a game. Every team in the Horizon knew he was going to shoot the ball, but no one could stop him.

Jayden Gardner – East Carolina

Garder played on the Pirates and put up numbers that in a conference that is built on defense were gaudy. He scored 16.3 points and grabbed 8.5 rebounds a game while shooting almost 50%. To think he was going against defenses like Cincinnati, Houston, and Wichita State, those are impressive numbers.
