No. 3 – Mike Brey (Notre Dame)

Mike Brey has been the epitome of average at Notre Dame. They are never a next level team, but they are normally never a bottom of the barrel team either, with the exception of this year. But, in the last two seasons Notre Dame has been left out of the NCAA tournament for the first team in over a decade they have missed the tourney for back-to-back years.

An in-depth look into the season really is not an in-depth look, without Rex Pflueger they looked terrible. I was at the game against Pittsburgh that in the second half they completely through it away. At points this year it looked like the team did not care, and that they were trying to lose games. That is a shot right at Mike Brey, what are you building in South Bend? You lose one player, you season is over. It was like his team did not believe in him anymore.

Knowing that the school is going into a rebuild is tough to think. Notre Dame is a tough school to rebuild, as most schools know that it is not a direct path to the NBA. That means the school is a couple of years away at least. They need time to develop a few good players to become relevant again.

Brey also has only been the coach of one conference title, that is a tournament title, he has never won a regular season title either, which is another turn off for recruits. Brey needs to have a big rebound next season, or he could be on the coaching hot seat.
