NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Pros and cons of Lester Quinones final 4 teams
By Josh Stevens
No. 4 Maryland
While I love the potential of this Maryland team bringing back most of their key contributors from last season, and with Bruno Fernando and Anthony Cowan Jr leaving the door open to return they have the potential to return every starter. I think the backcourt is going to clog up very quickly. They already have four guards that received over 23 minutes a game last season, and with number five being down at 12 minutes I think that will play a factor.
To go along with that they played at the slowest pace out of all of his top four this season taking just over 1900 shots. With my breakdown saying I think he would fit best in a run and gun offense this is the complete opposite. Mark Turgeon also asks all of his players to handle the ball from time to time, while Lester is more than capable he never really in high school had to do that.
There is some good news for the Terrapin faithful as you did make the final cut. To go along with that out of his final four you have the team that most people have the most faith in, even if neither Cowan nor Fernando comes back next season. You have arguably the best coach in Mark Turgeon, and on top of that you are coming off a last-second loss to LSU on a controversial no-call on the winning basket, or the Terrapins would have been in the Sweet 16.
