Big 12 Basketball: Top 5 decisions to be made regarding 2019 NBA Draft
By Josh Stevens
Desmond Bane – TCU
Bane is someone who can really stroke it from deep shooting 46% in 2017 and 42.5% this season. That will always play at the next level with the new style NBA. That should help his case with some teams, but other than that he is just average at everything else. He is a guard at the next level that had an assist to turnover ratio less than 2-1. He is not someone who is going to create steals or get a big block inside, while he is not a defensive liability it is not his strong suit either.
Bane would be someone who would get a spot on a G-League team if he is lucky right now. He is a very offensive-minded player that scored just a tick over 15 points per game this year. He did grab slightly under six rebounds this season on a team that was fairly decent on the defensive half as a whole.
He was the go-to option for the Horned Frogs this year, but he has to show more next year as a complete player before entering his name for good. Bane also has a tendency to be very streaky. He would score seven points in consecutive games, then against, in my opinion, the second-best defense in the Big 12 in Texas score 34.
