NBA Draft: Top 25 one-and-done prospects of all-time
Bradley Beal took a stab at the college basketball ranks as a member of the Florida Gators under head coach Billy Donovan. Before he became a sharpshooter behind the arc, Beal wreaked havoc on his opponents at the rim at the off-guard position.
Beal was a mixture of a sharpshooter and a slasher before he made the jump to the NBA. As a freshman, he only made 63 3-pointers on 186 attempts, while taking 207 shots inside the arc and making 112 of those. His balance allowed him to averaged 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game through 37 appearances, all starts for the Gators during the 2011-12 season.
The Gators would go on to make it all the way to the Elite Eight as a 7-seed, falling 72-68 to the Louisville Cardinals in the end. In the preceding 2012 NBA Draft, Beal was selected third overall by the Washington Wizards.
He’s formed one of the best backcourt duos alongside John Wall with his ability to knock down the 3-ball, among other things. Beal has made two-straight NBA All-Star appearances across the past two seasons.
In 2018-19, Beal produced career-high averages in points (25.6 ppg), assists (5.5 apg) and rebounds (5.0 rpg) even with Wall out for most of the season. His impact continues to grow as he’s shooting 38.4 percent from behind the arc and his production continues to rise. Look for his game to grow following this year’s NBA Draft, pending positive results.
